FIGHTING FACT:
Confrontations rarely turn into physical conflict. It simply doesn't make any sense to hurt a member of the pack because the group depends on each individual to hunt, and so to survive. Conflict is avoided by using succinct gestured and facial expressions.
Threats are conveyed through bared teeth, fixed stares, growls, raised ears and wrinkled brows.
Wolves will maximize the message to minimize the cost of injury.
